I’m proud of all my children because they have grown up to be really interesting people and all have talents of their own. I am really proud that they don’t give up easily and keep plugging along even when it looks like life is really going to smack ‘em around a bit.
This weekend my oldest called to say she was given a Graduate Assistant’s position at SUNY. She has applied for several of these positions but since she is finishing the Masters part of the Doctorate program, she was overlooked several times. Twice she made the final interviews but was turned down once because she wasn’t Asian and once because she didn’t have the proper experience. This time though, the department head picked her to help in the Humanities department and to assist in research for another professor. GA positions are important because you get a stipend and you get your tuition free.
