Pisa no leana no more
November 7, 2007 — frustratedwriterOkay, the Leaning Tower of Pisa still leans but it has been replaced, according to the Guinness Book of World Records, by a church tower in Germany. Stripping Pisa of its longtime honor I’m sure will have some drastic effects on the Italian economy (like anyone would notice the economy had been affected in anyway) but think of the boost it is going to give the Germans! Germans and Italians fighting each other for honor… hmm, that sounds vaguely familiar. (Somehow I have this image of the Leaning Tower of Pisa shouting at the church tower in Germany with a taut of, “You wanna a Pisa of me?” Okay, lame, but still it sits there in my mind like it owns the place.)
Back to what is really important; I fear that in the rush to get a story, we have been deprived of the real truth that we all seek. Which way are the towers leaning? Are they leaning right? Or left? Are these conservative towers or liberal ones? Would you find them hugging trees or cutting them down to build industry? I think those are questions that we need to have answered so thoughtful tourists can decide which tower they may want to visit. No self respecting Republican would want to visit a tower leaning to the left when there is a perfectly good right leaning tower just hundreds of miles away. I’m thinking a good Democrat would raise funds to help push the right leaning tower over to the left while putting supports underneath it so it would be totally dependent upon them forever.
I’m telling you, this is a political hot potato that needs to be baked and buttered.

But if you buttered it, would you be liberal with your dairy? We need to establish an exploratory committee for this one.

Well I will go ahead and lay my butt on the line to say if the guv’ment grants me 10 million dollars to study this I will start on the project immediately. I will even give them a report at the end of this ten year study…

All I can think of are all those poor tourists through the years who now have in their possession a photo of themselves standing in front of and pretending to hold up some second-rate, yawn-able tilted building in Italy. Don’t they all wish now that they went to Germany instead? hahahaha (fake them out!!)
